This year was another busy one for me, and for my students! Ten students went to Honduras this year, to the cloud forest at Cusuco and then diving on Roatan. It was an amazing experience! I also spent two weeks in Malawi, working at Dzaleka refugee camp. This was another life-changing event that I can't really encapsulate in words. Suffice it to say that it puts things into perspective, and that I also see many ways that I would like to continue to work in that area. Particularly with bats! I was able to give a talk about Bats in Malawi while at the camp, and it was well received--I also realized how little everyone there knows about bats! So....in the future I would like to build an internship so that students can assist in conservation efforts directed at bats....plus experience the setting, other native wildlife, and the amazing people there!
